UPDATED - May 4:  Sampson, our pretty, 3 year old cropped and docked red boy definitely has an understanding of his basic commands & cues when he is in an area without distractions. He responds well to SIT, DOWN, SETTLE, COME, and starting DOWN STAY and WAIT at doorways and is continuing to work on his impulse control with the help of a positive-reinforcement based trainer. He is very active and has a high drive for activity, enjoying playing, running, and tugging. For the time being, Sampson would do well in a home with few distractions that would allow him to continue improving upon his impulse control skills. He does very well one-on-one, is crate-trained, and responds well to clicker training. He would do best as an only pet, as he is reactive towards cats and other dogs. He has a great foundation and is a very intelligent, eager, and honest dog. He will definitely need a job and his boundaries must be made very clear for Sampson to succeed, but given the right fit, he would be a great pet! He is affectionate, will continue to work for rewards, and is looking for a forever home with someone who will continue to work with him and keep him successful!
