Whitney
She would do well in a moderately active home that appreciates her calm, sweet demeanor and values how simply wonderful she is with children!
Ms. Whitney is one of our mature, senior gems. She is around 8 years old. Whitney was turned over to HADR by owners who had had her for over 5 years! How could you part with such a wonderful dog after such a long time is beyond us. They even commented on how much in love their small son was with her. Well, needless to say, that apparently didn't matter and Whitney was discarded because she was wetting her bed at night. A quick trip to a vet and it was determined that Whitney was incontinent. She is now on the proper dosage of a readily available, inexpensive medication that controls her urination. Whitney was also extremely obese, which no doubt conributed to her incontinence. She is now looking slim and trim and simply FABULOUS now, having lost 20 pounds!
When Whitney first came to HADR, she would cower in the corner and shield herself from loud voices - she was obviosly screamed at in her prior home. She is now enjoying being treated with respect and affection and no more screaaming! Whitney would do fine as a single dog or with a male dog, but no female companions for this girl.
