Sunnie
Even though Sunnie has had a rough life, she is a beautiful red girl with a sweet face and a good nature.
Her playful, youthful manner were still intact even after the neglect and hardship she endured.
Beautiful Sunnie has had a rough life. She knows “lay down”, “sit”, and “come” as someone took time to train her, however, that love ended when her “family” abandoned her at a home they vacated. Sunnie was left with another family pet in the backyard with no food and the two were not discovered for weeks. The SPCA stepped in and claimed them as a cruelty seizure and called HADR. The other dog was humanely put to sleep as her injuries were too severe to save her life.
We thought this was Sunnie’s second chance as she is a beautiful red girl with a sweet face and a good nature. When we originally got Sunnie in late 2006 we (and the vets) thought she was about 3 years old. She went through heartworm treatment and was ready for adoption until we noticed that she seemed to have difficulty standing comfortably for long periods of time. We attributed this initially to the severely malnourished condition she was in upon arrival. However, the condition persisted and after 2 sets of x-rays, the vets still can’t determine exactly what the problem is. An undetermined mass on her spine is the leading contender. What the vets did determine was that this sweet girl was closer to 7 or 8 years old in age.
We are successfully managing Sunnie’s pain with medication and she is responding positively. We are looking for an adopter who will continue to keep her on medication and one who has the resources to undertake possible future medical care at the recommendation of a veterinarian. We think she has some great years left ahead and Sunnie is still looking for that promised SECOND CHANCE at a life with someone who will adore her and shower her with the affection she was denied for so long. Can you be the person who will be there for her?
